Stories

about

"Stories" came together just a few weeks before I completed Get Lost. I had originally married up a four line lyric of Scott's to an old musical idea in preparation for the upcoming Groundhog Day album. When Scott arrived and we started working on it we soon realized there was nothing for him to add so I kept it for the Mailbox album.

The last line of his original poem ("ghosts of the past won't haunt you anymore") inspired me to write the rest of the lyric.

lyrics

Gray in the trees
Weeds on the lawn
No one rings the bell
All your things are gone

Door's open wide
Wind blows through the hall
Shadows play outside
With moonlight on the wall

Dust on the chair
Sitting in the den
Creaks in the stairs
You'll never hear again

Stories of a home
Crawl beneath the floor
Ghosts of the past
Won't haunt you anymore
